Linux-on-NUMA Technical Meeting

Purpose: Come to agreement on Linux-on-NUMA technical
goals and priorities. If time permits begin
planning/assigning work items.
Who should attend: Technical people with NUMA/Linux experience who
are committed to making Linux run well on NUMA
platforms. Up to two people from each company
are invited.
Affiliation: This is part of the Linux Scaling Effort

2:00 IBM's experience with NUMA and Linux. Historical perspective from
DYNIX/ptx, AIX, and IBM Research projects. [Hubertus Franke and
Paul McKenney presenting.]
2:30 Discussion of goals, architectures, priorities of NUMA features,
and NUMA APIs. We need to come out of this discussion agreeing
that we will work together on -one- NUMA API/implementation for
Linux, and it would be good to agree on the highest-priority
NUMA features. If we can break out some work items and get people
starting work on them, so much the better!
4:15 Set date and medium (face-to-face, teleconference, or email) of
the next meeting.
4:30 Close.
We will make the most progress if people discussing existing NUMA
APIs, hardware, and implementations can make them available in advance to
the group. Any of us can of course choose to keep this information
proprietary, but in that case it will not be available to the Linux
community, which will have the final judgement on our work.
Lodging:
O'Hare Hilton. Ask for "NUMA-on-Linux" rate ($179/night).
You will probably need to spell out the "NUMA-on-Linux".
Reservations can be made using this rate starting on
the evening of Wednesday March 9 through the evening of
Tuesday March 22 (CST).
