Subject: NUMA presentation to Linus
Folks,
I am ccing a few of the Intel/SGI/IBM/NEC people. In the upcoming kernel
workshop, I have succeded in piquing Linus' interest in turning up for
a NUMA/scalability BOF. The organizer has agreed to give a slot for the
topic, although it is not clear that Linus does not have other conflicting
BOF's he might want to go to (Friday 8, 9, 10 pm).
In any case, treat this as advance warning that I might call on
representatives from your companies to "support the cause". I assume
frankeh and Paul are not attending, but please make sure Mike Kravetz
shows up (Ananth tells me he is attending). I would like Asit to be present,
at least. John Hawkes, you might think about showing up to present your
scalability experiences, or one of Mike and myself can cover it. Ananth,
I would like you to be present for moral support, and to field any NUMA
intricacies that becomes too hot for me.
At this point, I am not 100% sure this is going to happen. So, unless
you were attending anyways (Ananth, Mike, Asit, myself, AFAIK), you don't
really need to change your plans for Friday night. By the way, there
seems to be space problems (I would think the BOF would be exempt though),
so unless you registered, you, or rather, I, would need to check with Ted
Tso that it would be okay for you to drop in.
I will update you guys on the timing, and whether Linus will be attending.
